St. Bonaventure Catholic School was formally dedicated in May 1997 and opened for classes in September 1997. The school began with Pre-K and Kindergarten, emerging into the present elementary school with grades Pre-K through grade eight, two classes of each grade level. With the growth of the school, programs were added and personnel were hired for computer, Spanish, religion, art, counseling, and physical education. The school continued to progress with the addition of a fully equipped science lab, computer lab, media center, and the development of a resource program, advanced Spanish, and Math. The school significantly expanded its community service commitment with a “Faith in Action” program, as well as, regularly scheduled visits to the local senior center. Beginning with the 2006-2007school year, St. Bonaventure will be at its fullest capacity. St. Bonaventure School also offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, tutoring programs, enrichment classes, and activities specifically designed to include parents. St. Bonaventure’s faculty consists of state certified teachers, and are required to have religion certification. Staff development is an integral part of the schools mission to “cultivate and maximize each child’s spiritual, academic, social, and physical potential.” St. Bonaventure is very proud of the longevity and dedication of its staff. St. Bonaventure School has always distinguished itself through teaching Gospel values, and the school continues to develop and strengthen its commitment to the Catholic faith. The celebration of weekly children’s Masses are the cornerstone our Catholic identity. It is through tangible elements, such as this, that the Catholic character of the school is outwardly conveyed to the entire community. St. Bonaventure Catholic School is “guided by God’s hands” in its educational mission and welcomes families of diverse classes, ethnicities, racial backgrounds, and abilities. |
